Italian website CMW claim Alessandro Bastoni has pricked the ears of Tottenham transfer chief Fabio Paratici after he angrily reacted to being substituted during Inter’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Udinese on Sunday afternoon.
Bastoni, 23, was withdrawn after just 31 minutes during the loss. A match in which Nicolo Barella had given Inter the lead. However, Udinese equalised and then went on to score two late goals to win – Gerard Deulofeu shining.
The Italy international was one of the names strongly linked with Spurs in the summer. However, he chose to remain at Inter, rather than form a reunion with Antonio Conte. Spurs have brought in Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.
But his reaction, and indeed, the substitution has caught the attention of Paratici. Tottenham remain very-much in the market for Bastoni. With his contract ending in 2024, there is a chance he could be allowed to leave next summer.
Inter will not accept offers lower than £52.5m – but there is now a belief, after the incident [above] that Bastoni may be tempted by a move. Indeed, CMW report that there is a “tense atmosphere” between Bastoni and boss Simone Inzaghi.

The report makes a good point. The reasons Tottenham did not sign Bastoni in the summer was two-fold; he was expensive, and he chose to remain at Inter. But come the January window, or more likely, next summer, it will be easier.
Bastoni – judging by his reaction in the video – hardly looks as if he is going to willingly sign a new Inter deal. So, his contract will continue to run down and next summer, he will enter the last 12 months of his current contract.
It will reduce his price tag and that will only help Spurs. Also, judging by his reaction to the surprise substitution, he might now actually consider Spurs – rather than remain loyal to Inter. Plenty to play for over the coming months.
