Speaking on The Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Fabio Vieira after his first league start for Arsenal at the weekend.

The Portuguese ace was one of the Gunners’ most exciting signings of the summer, but due to injury and Martin Odegaard’s scintillating form, the attacking midfielder hasn’t had many chances to impress so far.

However, at the weekend, Vieira got his chance to make his mark, and it’s fair to say that he took his opportunity against Brentford, bagging a goal on his first start for his new club.

It’s fair to say that Campbell was impressed, stating that everyone has now realised that Vieira is a special talent.

What’s been said?

Campbell spoke about Vieira’s debut.

“I think everyone who watched that game realised this kid, at 21, this kid is special. I’m telling you, he’s special. It will take time to adapt, he looks weak at times, but his technique, his quality on the ball, his passing, he’s excellent, but also he shot from outside the box and he fooled the goalkeeper with the eyes, whipped it with his left, his song was out and what a fantastic moment for him as well,” Campbell said.

“He’s a special guy, he’s only going to get better as well, he’s 21 years old. We have to give Arteta, Edu and Richard Garlick some credit. We have some talent.”

“Vieira has some fire in his boots, if they let him shoot he can put them away.”

Sit up and take notice

Vieira hasn’t proven himself quite yet, but he’s certainly made us sit up and take notice of his abilities.

The youngster still has a long way to go before we can start discussing him amongst the most talented players in the division, but he’s certainly on the right track.

If he can kick on from what was a brilliant debut showing, it won’t be long before Vieira is a real fan’s favourite at the Emirates.
