Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, who was once linked to Arsenal as the Italian international heads into the final year of his contract with the Blues.
According to the Mirror, the La Liga giants are considering a move for Jorginho next year with the former Napoli star’s deal with Chelsea set to expire in 2023, with little movement currently ongoing to tie the midfielder down to a new contract with the west London giants.
Signed for a reported £57m in 2018 under Maurizio Sarri, Jorginho was key to Chelsea’s 2021 UEFA Champions League title win with the midfielder linked with a move to Arsenal the following summer, with the 30-year-old also coming third in that year’s Ballon d’Or voting behind Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi.
Despite a historic 2021 where Jorginho won the Champions League with Chelsea and the Euros with Italy, the midfielder’s form has been lacklustre over the past 12 months, so-much-so that Barcelona are now looking to sign the former Napoli star and Arsenal target for free next summer.

The Catalan giants were one of the biggest spenders in the summer and signed players from both Arsenal and Chelsea in Hector Bellerin, Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso, and Jorginho could be next to leave the English capital to join Barcelona, who could replace Sergio Busquets.
Indeed, replacing a club legend and the Barcelona captain would be some step for Jorginho given how unimpressive the midfielder has been for Chelsea in recent months, and for Arsenal, they will be glad they never made a move for the Italian international when they were originally linked with the 30-year-old.
Barcelona signing Jorginho would be a perfect move for all parties involved

Jorginho’s form since his peak last year has taken a turn for the worse, and with Chelsea seemingly open to offloading the former Arsenal target, a move to Barcelona could be perfect for the Italian international, who could be perfect for La Liga.
Barcelona’s transfer policy under Xavi Hernandez has been erratic but productive, and Jorginho could be the next signing the European giants make as they look to build a squad that can once again challenge for the Champions League and Spanish title.
