Owen Hargreaves has hailed ‘superstar’ Son Heung-min and how the hat-trick hero could have scored ‘six goals’ himself during Tottenham’s thumping 6-2 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
The former England midfielder added that Son has ‘millions of fans’ and the popular winger has probably won ‘another million’ after his heroics from the bench for Tottenham, as he told Premier League Productions (17/09/22 at 7:25 pm).
Son went into the game without a goal to his game this season, some questioning his form and Antonio Conte deciding to drop him to the bench.

Well, that’s probably the last time Conte is going to bench the player because not many can have such a devastating impact as a substitute.
At the time of Son’s introduction, Spurs were winning 3-2, by just making it 4-2 and putting that cushion between themselves and Leicester would have been enough of a contribution from the player.
But the South Korean star decided to take it up a few crazy levels by netting a stunning hat-trick, to the delight of his own fans and teammates, as Hargreaves praised the winger.
“He wanted to make a point, you can guarantee that,” said Hargreaves. “You could also argue that if he started the game, then he would have scored six. Leicester are just a disaster defensively.
“Fans just absolutely love him. Before he was coming on, the crowd went bananas. I think he made a point (during his celebration). He put his fingers to his lips.
“He’s a superstar really isn’t he?! He is probably one of the most likeable guys in the whole league. Just the way he smiles and plays. Everybody that meets him and knows him, loves him. The way the crowd and his teammates celebrated the first goal, just shows how much he means to Tottenham. But to the whole league. That’s why I was saying (before the game) don’t drop him.
“He has got millions of fans and he probably just won another million.”

TOTTENHAM’S DEPTH
At the start of the season, when Conte brought Richarlison into the club, he spoke about the level of Tottenham’s XI not dropping when making changes.
Richarlison didn’t arrive as a starter, despite being a club-record purchase, but eventually, he found himself in the starting XI.
A player of that calibre benched Dejan Kulusevski, who then in tune benched Son, who has probably now benched one of the duo for the foreseeable.
All in all, this is boding well for Spurs because they have serious quality depth in now and this competition will only maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
