Kevin Campbell has admitted that he is stunned by Arsenal injury news, in light of Oleksandr Zinchenko‘s recent absence.

The Ukraine international hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since the 3-0 victory away to Bournemouth on August 20.

Zinchenko, who joined the Gunners from Manchester City, has subsequently missed the victory over Aston Villa and the defeat away at Manchester United.

The £32 million left-back had been proving himself a revelation under Mikel Arteta early doors, even keeping Kieran Tierney out of the starting lineup.

But a calf muscle has kept him out of the contention since then and Football London reported that he’s also set to miss the visit to Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

And here’s what the former Arsenal hitman said about him.

He told The Highbury Squad podcast on YouTube: “Zinchenko’s had a couple of injuries. He’s only just come! What’s going on? Sometimes you go to a different club and all of a sudden injuries hit you. You can’t legislate for it unfortunately.”

Thing is, Zinchenko wasn’t quite the injury-free soul that Campbell believes at Manchester City.

Prior to joining Arsenal, the 25-year-old had missed a total of 22 games [Transfermarkt] since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

These were all various ailments and knocks, rather than one specific problem.

So really, Zinchenko’s injury history did suggest that little niggles and such were possible at Arsenal.
