According to Jeunes Footeux, Aston Villa have joined Newcastle in the race to sign Barcelona and PSG target Andrey Santos.
What’s the story?
Well, Steven Gerrard and Eddie Howe have some serious competition to fend off in Barcelona and PSG.
Jeunes Footeux believe Barcelona have already made contact with Vasco de Gama as they aim to lure Santos to the Camp Nou, although the Spanish giants are currently unable to pay the €30m (£26m) asking price.
That sum would not be an issue for Aston Villa, Newcastle or PSG – in fact, the Magpies are actually mentioned by the French news outlet as a side who could quickly make a substantial bid.
Jeunes Footeux add that Barcelona are considering an offer in which the payment is spread across two years, during which time Santos will be loaned back to Vasco de Gama.

However, it remains to be seen if the Brazilian giants will agree to such a proposal, or whether they would rather have £26m and lose the 18-year-old immediately.
Despite his age, Santos is already a key player in midfield for Vasco de Gama, and has scored five goals in 24 Série B appearances so far this season.
Aston Villa or Newcastle could beat Barcelona & PSG to a gem
It is very unusual to see a No.6 performing at such a high level at the age of 18.
The mental strength needed to play ahead of the back four – knowing that any loss of possession on your part will likely lead to a goal – cannot be understated, so it speaks volumes that Santos has performed so well.
Interestingly, the teenager has been described as the Brazilian Busquets – earning comparisons to the Barcelona and Spain maestro at such a young age certainly says a lot about his ability.
Interestingly, Santos shares the same agent as Bruno Guimaraes, which could give Newcastle a slight advantage in this transfer battle.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as anything could happen.
