According to The Athletic, Mainz 05 boss Bo Svensson has emerged as a potential Graham Potter replacement for Brighton.
What’s the story?
Well, the Seagulls lost the 47-year-old to Chelsea last week, and have already drawn up a shortlist of promising coaches who could step into his shoes at the Amex Stadium.
The Athletic believe Roberto De Zerbi and Kjetil Knutsen are also on Brighton’s radar, although Svensson has now emerged as a candidate of interest – contact is yet to be made with the Dane.
Brighton have been alerted to the 43-year-old due to his fine work in Germany with Mainz 05, who he guided to a surprise eighth-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
Svensson has continued his strong start to life at Mainz 05 – who hired him in January 2021 – with the German side currently sat sixth in the Bundesliga.

Brighton have been given a bit of time to sort themselves out after the sudden departure of Potter, with fixtures being postponed following the Queen’s death.
In the meantime, Adam Lallana and Andrew Crofts, Brighton’s Under-21 coach, will take first-team training.
Brighton could hire a diamond in Bo Svensson
Mainz 05 are no strangers to developing world class managers, and Svensson could be next in line.
The German side gave Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel a platform to kickstart their coaching careers, with both now among the best on the planet.
In fact, The Athletic have likened Svensson to the German duo, who both managed the Dane during his playing days, although he was quick to pour cold water on these comparisons.
When asked about them, Svensson said: “It’s down to the team.”
Clearly, he is a humble figure, and if Brighton can lure him to England, supporters may forget about Potter in no time – be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
