Thierry Henry has praised Joel Matip and stated that ‘I am happy for him’ after he scored the winning goal during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Premier League legend added that, when people talk about Liverpool someone like Matip hardly gets a mention, as Henry gave the 31-year-old his flowers, as he told CBS Sports (13/09/22 at 10:25 pm).
It was a nervy game on Merseyside for the Reds, who went into the match nearly one week after losing 4-1 to Napoli in what was the team’s ‘worst game’ under Jurgen Klopp.

It wasn’t pretty by Liverpool on occasions because Ajax came to pile more misery on them, including Mohammed Kudus scoring a thunderous equaliser in the first half.
But the home side, who opened the scoring through Mo Salah, netted the winner when Matip headed home minutes from time for a much-needed three points.
Henry was keen to give Matip a mention because he feels the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and previously, Sadio Mane, all seemingly get more love than the club’s free-transfer.
“I am happy for Matip,” said Henry. “This is a guy where people will not talk a lot when mentioning Liverpool. You are going to mention Van Dijk, Salah, Mane back in the days or Firmino.
“But Joel always comes and does the job. He often scores important goals actually. Headers. Unlucky in some situations, but when he scores, they are good and important.”

NORMAL SERVICE TO RESUME?
Klopp has had to ask more questions about his team than in previous times because they just haven’t looked like the Liverpool of old.
From individuals struggling in defence to a midfield that needs refreshing, the players have produced moments and games to forget for their fans.
But could the three points yesterday now kick-start Liverpool’s season into life? It’s probably not helped by the fact that they won’t play at the weekend because this is where they would have wanted to build momentum.
They are next in action, after the international break, when they host managerless Brighton on home soil at the start of next month.
