Fabrizio Romano was full of praise for Shakhtar Donetsk superstar Mykhaylo Mudryk last night after the winger’s breakout performance in the UEFA Champions League, with Arsenal reportedly interested in signing the youngster.
The Italian journalist took to Twitter to laud the ‘new potential star’ after Mudryk bagged a goal and two assists for Shakhtar in a 4-1 win against RB Leipzig, with Romano also teasing that the attacker ‘had bids’ of up to €35m (£30m) rejected by the Ukrainian club last week.

Arsenal were reportedly interested in Mudryk in the final week of the transfer window as Mikel Arteta searched for an attacker to provide depth out on the right for Bukayo Saka, yet an injury to Mohamed Elneny meant the Gunners’ transfer business was shifted to signing a central midfielder, a mission that ultimately failed.
With Brentford and Everton also reportedly keen on Mudryk, interest is growing rapidly in the 21-year-old talent, and the youngster’s performance last night in the Champions League will only widen the pool of clubs keen on signing the competition’s new breakout superstar.
Indeed, whilst Arsenal will be kicking themselves for not signing Mudryk, the attacker has arguably made the right choice remaining with Shakhtar as the forward will play regular football from now until the January window, even though interested clubs will now likely have to pay more for his services.
Arsenal could now not afford to sign Mudryk if form continues

Arsenal missed out on a late summer signing in part to how little they had left in the bank to make a big move for a new player, and based on Mudryk’s form this season, the Gunners could simply not afford to bring the 21-year-old to north London if the youngster continues to have impressive performances in Europe.
After all, the Champions League is one of the grandest stages for a player to showcase his qualities, and Mudryk did and then some last night for Shakhtar, much to the dismay of Arsenal, who could soon be priced out of a move for the attacking sensation.
