Rafael Leao is reportedly set to sign a new contract with AC Milan amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, with the 23-year-old eager to remain in Italy.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese international is ready to pen a new long-term contract with the Serie A champions that will expire in 2027, with agent Jorge Mendes also managing to negotiate a significant wage increase for Leao upon signing this new contract with Milan.
The Rossoneri have been working hard to commit Leao to a new deal for the good part of six months, with reports in recent weeks suggesting that both Liverpool and City are interested in signing the former LOSC Lille superstar, with Chelsea also in the mix to land the Milan attacker.
One of Stefan Pioli’s best players last season in Milan’s Scudetto-winning season, getting Leao to sign a new contract is massive for the Italian giants given how incredible the forward’s attacking and creative output has been over the past 12 months.
Leao bagged a brace on the weekend against Inter Milan in a 3-2 derby win that could already have massive implications for the Serie A-title race, and the forward committing his future to the San Siro side despite interest from Liverpool and City is huge.
Indeed, the attacker reportedly has a £127m release clause, and whilst details of Leao’s new contract are yet to be revealed, it is likely that the Portuguese star will have no exit clause in his deal or the original figure will be dramatically increased for upcoming transfer windows.
Leao signing new AC Milan contract is massive for the Rossoneri

Leao’s form has been sensational over the past year, and Milan managing to secure the forward’s services on a new long-term deal is some quite incredible work from the Serie A side given how much interest the 23-year-old has attracted from overseas in the summer.
With Liverpool and City perfect next destinations for Leao, the attacker’s decision to stay in Milan and pen a fresh contract is massive for the Italian giants, who could have renewed hope of winning the title yet again with the Portuguese star remaining until 2027.
