The Mail claim on their live transfer blog (Thursday, 9.12AM) that Aston Villa have ‘resurrected’ interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr after talks broke down last week – with Crystal Palace also said to be keen on a deadline-day deal.
Sarr, 24, is back in the Championship with Watford for a second time despite constant links to the Premier League. Already this season, he has scored two goals in five outings – netting last time out in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Villa were in talks to sign Senegal international Sarr last week – with a £25million price tag on the cards. However, talks broke down and it seemed as if Villa’s chances of landing the ex-Rennes star were as good as over. That has changed.
Indeed, the Mail report that Villa have ‘resurrected’ interest in Sarr. It comes after a woeful start to the season in which Villa have suffered four defeats in five Premier League games. Width is needed and Villa are again, looking at Sarr.

Villa have resurrected interest in Sarr, Crystal Palace also want winger
If Villa can pull off a deal for Sarr on deadline day, it would be a sensational move. The Midlands club are expected to be busy, as they pursue a centre-back, and possibly needing to replace Douglas Luiz. Leander Dendoncker is a target.
So, Villa could end the day with three new arrivals – if Luiz departs. Whether or not they get a deal for Sarr over the line remains to be seen, given they failed to find an agreement last time. But interest in him shows Villa want a winger.
For a fee of £25million, Sarr would be an excellent buy and has already shown that he is more than good enough in the Premier League. In 50 top-flight games, he has had a hand in 18 goals in a side that have been fighting the drop.
