Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa have rejected a third bid from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to Sky Sports.

Aston Villa reject Arsenal’s third bid for Douglas Luiz

Sky Sports are reporting tonight (10:05pm, September 1, 2022) that Aston Villa have turned down Arsenal’s third offer for Luiz.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal had initial offers of £20 million and £23 million for the 24-year-old rejected by Premier League rivals Villa.

The Gunners then made a third offer of £25 million.

Villa have rejected it as well, according to Sky Sports.

What now?

In our view, Arsenal should now give up signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.

There is simply not enough time to get a deal done.

Even if Arsenal make a better offer and Villa accept it, Luiz will still have to undergo a medical.

There is not much time left in the summer transfer window, and we think that Arsenal should now move on.

Luiz is out of contract at Villa at the end of the season.

Maybe Arsenal could make a move for the Villa star in the January transfer window.

If Luiz does not agree a new deal, then Villa will lose him on a free transfer, so the Villans could decide to cash in on him in January and get some money in for him.

Arsenal could have a good chance of signing the Brazilian in January.
