Liverpool are set to sign Arthur Melo – and the Juventus man has already praised his potential teammate Mohamed Salah.

The Reds don’t really like to do late deals but they have been forced into the market this time.

Jordan Henderson’s hamstring injury means Liverpool are now looking to add another midfielder to Jurgen Klopp’s ranks.

A big addition isn’t the target as Liverpool look to save their money for Jude Bellingham next summer, so the Reds have instead gone for a loan deal.

Liverpool are set to sign Arthur Melo

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier today that Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo will be joining Liverpool on loan.

Arthur is expected to undergo a medical and complete his move to Anfield before tonight’s transfer deadline.

Arthur feels like a case of unfulfilled potential.

The Brazilian looked like becoming the next great midfield metronome during his time with Gremio, and big things were expected at Barcelona.

Yet just two years after arriving, Barcelona offloaded Arthur to Juventus and it hasn’t gone much better for him in Italy.

Now ready for a chance to play in England, it’s no great surprise that Arthur has jumped at the chance to play for Liverpool.

In fact, Arthur has previously praised the Liverpool squad and specifically Mohamed Salah.

Before Liverpool took on Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals – yes, when Divock Origi became the Liverpool hero – Arthur spoke about Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Arthur suggested that Liverpool were ‘one of the best clubs in the world’, praising their ‘high-quality’ players.

Arthur added that Salah is a ‘great player’ and added that he is friends with Roberto Firmino from the Brazilian national team setup.

More than three years on, Arthur may be able to call Salah and Firmino teammates at club level, and those comments suggest that he would jump at the chance to join them At Anfield.
