Bruno Lage will let Yerson Mosquera leave Wolves on loan if the Premier League outfit succeed in bringing in West Ham United’s Craig Dawson or free-agent Belgium international Jason Denayer, according to the Express and Star.
A 2021 arrival from Colombian football, Mosquera has been left out of the matchday squad for three of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ five league games so far this term.
And the one-time Manchester City target will fall even further down the pecking order. At least, assuming Lage succeeds in landing one of his top deadline day targets.
Wolves, according to The Guardian, have offered a contract to Jason Denayer. The one-time Celtic and Sunderland loanee is a free-agent after leaving Ligue 1 giants Lyon in July.
Wolves want West Ham United’s Craig Dawson or Jason Denayer
Highly experienced Craig Dawson is another name in the frame. One of the most consistent and underrated central defenders in the whole of the Premier League; the 32-year-old is valued by West Ham at £7 million. Wolves, per the Daily Mail (1 September, 9.27am) have offered £5.25 million.
Dawson’s desire to seal a return to the Midlands could help push through a deal. The veteran spent nearly a decade at West Bromwich Albion.
Presumably, only one of Dawson or Denayer would arrive. Wolves’ recent switch to a back four, with Max Kilman and Nathan Collins impressing at the heart of the Molineux backline, reduces the need for extra depth in defence.
And Mosquera’s future depends largely on what happens between now and 11pm.
Lage, the Birmingham Mail add, will let the 21-year-old go on loan if either Dawson or Denayer sign. If both deals fail, then Mosquera will stick around.
