Keith Downie has reported on Twitter that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United still want to sign Christian Pulisic from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The Sky Sports pundit has claimed that Newcastle still like Chelsea attacking player Pulisic and want to secure the services of the 23-year-old USA international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, on a loan deal.

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that Newcastle, Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid all have expressed interest in securing the services of the former Borussia Dortmund star, who earns £150,000-a-week (SalarySport) salary.

There was speculation earlier this week that Chelsea have told the American that he will not be allowed to leave.

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Newcastle United are unlikely to be able to sign Christian Pulisic on loan from Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.

If the Blues have already decided that they will not let the attacker go, then it is unlikely that they will change their mind so late today, especially as they will have to get in a replacement.
