Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £25m bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, with the Brazilian international having just one year left on his current deal with the Premier League side.
According to the Sun, the north London side will launch a late move to sign the 24-year-old, who last night scored against Arsenal in Villa’s 2-1 loss at the Emirates Stadium, with Luiz’s future at Villa Park currently in the air as the midfielder has just one year left on his current deal.
With Arsenal desperate to sign a midfielder before tonight’s deadline, Luiz has seemingly emerged as the frontrunner for Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar, with the Brazilian long-been linked with a move to north London, a move that could now be on the cards if the £25m offer is accepted.
Indeed, Arsenal’s Brazilian contingent is one of the biggest at the club, and signing another player from the South American nation could be well-received within the squad, with Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus three of the Gunners’ most important players.
Arsenal could be making a risky move by signing Douglas Luiz

Hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by former Villa boss Dean Smith, Luiz has been a staple for the Villians ever since their return to the Premier League, yet for Arsenal, there are some concerns over signing the Brazilian international despite his profile and his age.
After all, £25m for a player with one year remaining on his current contract is a big move for a club that has already spent as much as Arsenal this summer, and whilst Luiz has shown flashes of brilliance, there have also been moments of madness that have made Villa fans question the former Manchester City talent.
