Tottenham Hotspur have resumed talks with Leeds United about signing Daniel James.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted this afternoon that negotiations are back underway regarding the Wales international moving to North London.
The Italian journalist added that the final decision will rest with the former Manchester United winger – a £24 million signing in 2021 – because he is content with life at Elland Road.
He tweeted:
This would be a fascinating transfer if it happens and, going by old comments from Ian Wright, he might be right up Antonio Conte’s alley at Tottenham.
The no-nonsense Italian manager demands running and lots of it – and according to Wright, James is a player who simply never stops.

He told ITV last year: “I’ve got to say, Daniel James, his output today with his tackles, his interceptions, creating chances. [I’m] very excited to see how he’s going to get on at Leeds. It was a very, very good performance from him. The thing with him, he’s so energetic. He’s so willing, he’s a willing runner, he never stops working.”
That testament from Wright will no doubt make him a perfect Conte player, if the Lilywhites can indeed lure him from Leeds.
As Romano pointed out, the player is happy in West Yorkshire, but he hasn’t been a roaring success at Elland Road just yet and maybe, just maybe, the prospect of playing under someone like Conte will appeal to him massively, not to mention the fact he’ll be at a Champions League club.
