Everton want Joao Pedro and could launch a very late move to sign the Watford attacker after a Newcastle United move went quiet.
The Toffees have brought in Neal Maupay and Dwight McNeil to strengthen their options in the final third.
Yet it’s clear that Frank Lampard still needs more and a deal for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze looks to be in the pipeline.
Everton are being linked with other attackers as well though, with Watford ace Joao Pedro once again touted for a move to Goodison Park.
Everton want Joao Pedro
The Daily Mail report that Everton are now reviving their move for Joao Pedro with a late push now expected for the Brazilian ace.
It’s stated that Everton did make an enquiry into signing Joao Pedro last week just as Newcastle were targeting a deal.
Newcastle seemed to have a £30million deal in place, but the move stalled and the Magpies signed Alexander Isak instead.
That means Joao Pedro is still with Watford ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday.
Everton are now looking into a deal once again, seemingly hoping to succeed with a move after Newcastle seemingly backed away.
The Athletic add that Newcastle’s interest in Joao Pedro has ‘all but ended’ after a take-it-or-leave-it bid for the Brazilian attacker last week.
Joao Pedro, 20, was touted as a wonderkid with Fluminense and he has been showing huge potential with Watford.
With two assists and a goal in his last two games for Watford, Joao Pedro looks a cut above the Championship and has been called ‘top class’ by teammate Daniel Bachmann.
An intriguing note is that a move to Goodison Park would see Joao Pedro continue to follow in Richarlison’s footsteps.
Richarlison went from Fluminense to Watford and then to Everton, a path that Joao Pedro could now copy.
Newcastle may have decided that Isak was the better deal, but Everton may now have a clear run towards Joao Pedro as we head towards deadline day.
