Frank Lampard’s Everton have made a bid to Cork City to sign their goalkeeper David Harrington in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to Echo Live.

Everton want to sign David Harrington from Cork City

The report has claimed that Premier League club Everton have offered League of Ireland First Division outfit City €50,000 (£42,947) plus add-ons for the goalkeeper.

City have yet to response to the Toffees bid, according to the report, which has added that the Republic of Ireland club will reject it.

Echo Live have further stated that Everton will make a second bid for the 22-year-old goalkeeper if their first offer is turned down.

Harrington is out of contract at Cork at the end of the season, and should he become a free agent next summer and then move to Everton, then the League of Ireland First Division club will receive compensation.

Everton’s plan is to let Harrington stay at City for now if they are able to strike a deal, according to the report.

One for the future

In our view, Everton are eyeing a move for David Harrington as a long-term prospect.

After all, it will not be easy for the Cork City goalkeeper to go straight into the Everton starting lineup straightway.

The level of competition in the Premier League is way higher than that in the League of Ireland First Division.

Moreover, Jordan Pickford is the number one goalkeeper at the Toffees at the moment, and is one of the best in his position.
