Sun reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon channel (29/08) that Aston Villa are one of five clubs looking at a deal for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz – along with Everton, West Ham, Southampton and Brighton.
Brereton Diaz, 23, is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park. It looks as if a move will go to the wire, with Blackburn requesting a fee of £20million. It comes after he netted 22 goals in 37 Championship games last term.
Not only that, but his exploits with Chile have certainly put him on the map – netting four goals in 14 caps. Reports last week claimed Everton were closing in on his signature, but they have since brought in Neal Maupay from Brentford.
However, the Toffees remain interested – but they are not alone. West Ham – who have signed Gianluca Scamacca – are also keen. Brighton too, as they look to replace Maupay. Southampton have Sekou Mara, but lost Armando Broja.

Now, Nixon reports that Villa are the fifth club in pursuit of Brereton Diaz. That is, despite already boasting both Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins up top. An interesting one that is likely to take a number of twists and turns before the deadline.
Villa one of five clubs looking at Brereton Diaz – where will he go?
Clearly, Brereton Diaz has outgrown Blackburn. He will not be signing a new deal as he looks to push through a move to a Premier League club. But which of the five clubs is his best move this summer? Villa, are not high on the list.
As stated, they have Watkins and Ings. Out wide, they have numerous options. Brereton Diaz would struggle for game time, something he needs at this stage in his career. Everton have signed Maupay, and have Dom Calvert-Lewin.
West Ham have Scamacca and Michail Antonio. On the other hand, Southampton do need a no.9 after losing Broja, and Mara is only 19. But Brighton is surely his best bet, after the Seagulls lost Maupay.
