Paul Merson has written on SportsKeeda that Crystal Palace winger and Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha would be a good signing for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The former Arsenal star believes that Zaha has become a better player since returning to Palace from Manchester United and would make Chelsea a better team.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with the 29-year-old Ivory Coast international winger, who earns £130,000 per week as salary (Spotrac).

Arsenal and Chelsea interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha

According to The Independent, Chelsea have revived their interest in Zaha and are preparing a bid to sign him before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney has suggested on Twitter that Arsenal could make a late bid for the winger.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Dean Jones said on The Done Deal Show last week that Arsenal have an eye on the former Manchester United player.

Paul Merson’s verdict

Merson wrote on SportsKeeda: “Zaha has been linked with a move to Chelsea and it remains to be seen if he will secure a transfer before the deadline.

“I think a lot of people judged him based on his Manchester United stint and I think that’s a bit unfair.

“The likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah didn’t quite make the grade at Chelsea, but look at them now!

“Zaha has added goals to his game and will be a really good signing for Chelsea, in my opinion.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Chelsea or Arsenal could be able to sign Wilfried Zaha from London and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace this week.

The former Manchester United player is out of contact at Palace at the end of the season, so the Eagles could be tempted to sell him for a decent transfer fee now instead of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal are massive clubs, and the winger himself could relish the chance to move to the Blues or the Gunners.

Zaha has scored 64 goals and created 45 big chances in 281 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
