Tottenham are unlikely to sign Hakim Ziyech with the Chelsea ace now on the verge of a move back to Ajax before the upcoming transfer deadline.

It promises to be a busy end to the transfer window for many clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United dominating the headlines.

Both sides are expecting to do plenty of deals both in and out, and some of their deals may have direct impacts on each other – and some of their Premier League rivals.

For instance, Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ajax winger Antony, and that my result in a Chelsea departure…

Tottenham are unlikely to sign Hakim Ziyech

Antony will soon undergo a medical ahead of an £85million move to United, leaving Ajax with a gaping hole in their team.

Recent reports have linked Chelsea man Hakim Ziyech with a return to Ajax, but hopes of a deal appeared to be dash when Ajax started looking elsewhere due to talks stalling with Chelsea.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Ziyech is ‘getting closer’ to re-signing for Ajax just two years since leaving for Chelsea for £33million.

The Moroccan was a fan favourite in Amsterdam having racked up 49 goals and 81 assists in 165 games during his first spell with the club.

Ziyech hasn’t been able to replicate that form for Chelsea and Ajax are now ready to welcome him back with open arms.

The 29-year-old will now seemingly call time on his Premier League career and kill off any lingering Tottenham Hotspur rumours.

Reports from Algemeen Dagblad over in the Netherlands suggested that Tottenham were ready to enter the race for Ziyech’s signature.

On the one hand, Antonio Conte is lacking a creative number 10 to utilise off the bench and Ziyech could have fit the bill.

On the other hand, Chelsea and Tottenham truly loathe each other and it feels unlikely that we will see business done between the two sides any time soon.

Tottenham do need to find somebody to offer some guile off the bench though, and if it isn’t going to be Ziyech, then Fabio Paratici needs to find somebody else in the coming days.
