Michael Owen has slammed West Ham United and Newcastle United transfer target, Conor Gallagher, for his ‘pure stupidity’ during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Leicester City on Saturday.
Within the first half of the Premier League weekend’s encounter at Stamford Bridge, Gallagher was shown two yellow cards and Owen couldn’t believe what Chelsea’s sought-after star was doing, as he told Premier League Productions (27/08/22 at 3:55 pm).
Could that possibly have been Gallagher’s last game in Chelsea colours?

The summer transfer window will slam shut on Thursday and Gallagher is a player that is wanted by many Premier League teams, including West Ham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
Gallagher will be serving his suspension for the upcoming midweek games and it will be interesting if Chelsea let the player go before the deadline.
He has started the last two league games for Thomas Tuchel, so that says something, but Owen wasn’t a fan of what the all-action midfielder did over the weekend.
“It’s pure stupidity,” said Owen. “He doesn’t have to do that. He has a fullback about to cover for him. And then, if he didn’t have to do the first one, then it was absolutely idiotic to do that (second yellow for foul on Barnes).
“I mean what are you doing? That’s a straight red! When you watch it closer, he really does stamp down.”

SHOULD GALLAGHER LEAVE CHELSEA?
The key thing for Gallagher is to earn the regular minutes because he did that last season and it resulted in him becoming an England international.
The 2022 World Cup is around the corner and if he wants to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad, then he needs to be playing on a regular basis.
At this moment, those minutes were starting to pick up in Chelsea colours, but will they let their academy star leave if big money is put on the table before Thursday’s deadline?
Chelsea have made bad mistakes in that regard before, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Marc Guehi, and their recent progression, are prime examples of that.
