David Ornstein has written in The Athletic that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal may not be able to sign Pedro Neto from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed this morning that Arsenal are looking to bring in Neto from Wolves following Nicolas Pepe’s loan exit.
However, Wolves are asking for a lot in transfer fees, which the Gunners are reluctant to pay at this stage of the summer transfer window.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffSide that Wolves are looking for more than £50 million for Neto.
The Sun journalist Daniel Cutts reported last week that Arsenal are willing to pay £35 million for the 22-year-old winger, but Wolves want £50 million for the Portugal international.
Ornstein wrote in The Athletic: “Arsenal had hoped to bring in Pedro Neto following Pepe’s departure but the move is now looking highly improbable, with Wolverhampton Wanderers reluctant to sell this summer and the level of fee that might persuade them otherwise looking unrealistic for Mikel Arteta’s side.”

David Ornstein is one of the best football journalists out there, and his knowledge about the inner workings of Arsenal is second to none.
The Athletic journalist’s update on Neto is really disappointing for Arsenal and is a blow to their plans.
Now, of course, the Gunners still have a very good squad, but Neto is only 22 and could only get better in the coming years and would be an asset for the North London club.
However, we have to say that Arsenal have left it too late to sign Neto.
After all, if Wolves sell the Portugal international winger now, then they will have to find a replacement, and the summer transfer window closes on Thursday.
