Paul Merson has suggested on SportsKeeda that Everton winger and reported Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon should not join Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal star believes that Gordon would be tempted to leave Everton for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea linked with Everton’s Anthony Gordon
The Sky Sports pundit has outlined the reasons why the 21-year-old English winger should stay at Everton.
Both Chelsea and Tottenham have been strongly linked with moves for Gordon in the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea are in talks with Everton over the signing of Gordon and are ready to pay £60 million in transfer fees to bring him to Stamford Bridge before the summer transfer window closes next month.
Earlier this week, CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Twitter that Tottenham are keen on Gordon and are willing to pay £35 million for him.
Paul Merson’s take
Merson wrote on SportsKeeda: “This transfer window is going to be a hard one for Anthony Gordon. He’s Everton’s superstar, in a sense, and he’s got his head turned.
“I think he’ll leave for Chelsea tomorrow morning if he has the chance. But I don’t think he’d play for them anywhere near as often as he could for Everton.

“Anthony Gordon’s a hero at Everton. He’ll play every week, and he’ll be a big fish in a small pond. Will he go to Chelsea to sit on the bench and not play? In a few years, we might be sitting here saying, “What happened to that Gordon?”
“On the other hand, he’d probably earn triple the wages at Chelsea. If he turns the move down, will he ever get another chance to play for them? This is an incredibly difficult decision. Don’t go by the money, go with your heart.”
Exit likely?
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon is likely to end up at Chelsea from Everton in the summer transfer window.
That Chelsea and Everton are in talks over the winger suggests that the Toffees are willing to sell Gordon.
There is speculation that the winger himself wants to move to Stamford Bridge, so, in our opinion a transfer is likely to happen soon.
