Italian outlet CMW claim Liverpool have offered a straight-swap move to Paris Saint-Germain to sign Leandro Paredes – but interest from the Reds has forced Juventus to quicken their deal to land the Argentina star in the ‘next few hours’.
Reports came out this week that Liverpool were weighing up a late move for PSG ace Paredes. The Argentine has fallen down the pecking order slightly since the arrival of Christopher Galtier as manager in Paris. His deal ends in June 2024.
The Reds desperately need a midfielder – proven by their 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Jurgen Klopp fielded a patched-up midfield of James Milner, Harvey Elliott and Jordan Henderson. Four midfield options are injured.
Naby Keita is one, with his contract also set to end in 2023. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Thiago are also injured. Liverpool want Paredes and the latest report states that the Reds have offered PSG the chance to sign Firmino.

The report says both players are valued in the region of £21million and £25million – making it a straight-swap deal. But Liverpool’s interest in Paredes has seen Juventus look to get a deal done as soon as possible, and they look more likely.
Liverpool have offered Firmino straight swap move to sign PSG’s Paredes
It does look as if Paredes will end up at Juventus. The Old Lady have been interested in the PSG star for much of the window and the report states that they have stepped up their bid in the “last few hours”. Thanks to Liverpool’s interest.
But it is encouraging for Liverpool fans. The fact they are pursuing a move for a midfielder at least, is a sign that the Reds recognise midfield depth is required. But, a move for Paredes now looks over, despite the Firmino swap offer.
