Alfredo Morelos was left out of the Rangers side to take on PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie – and after the Ibrox side secured a 1-0 win, Morelos has applauded his teammates on Instagram.

Morelos, 26, has already made four appearances for Rangers this season – but all have come from the bench. New signing Antonio Colak remains first choice, and it was his goal that sent the Gers into the Champions League groups.

For Morelos, he was forced to watch from home in Glasgow. Giovanni van Bronckhorst made the bold decision to leave him out, citing his lack of fitness and attitude as a reason for his decision. A move that has seemingly paid off.

Even Chris Sutton gave his verdict after Rangers secured a 1-0 win, stating that van Bronckhorst’s decision regarding Morelos had paid off. Now, Morelos has taken to Instagram: “This is my team! We are back! Congratulations boys”.

What a win it is for Rangers. It sees them return to the Champions League group stages for the first time in 12 years. A feat that van Bronckhorst has been crucial too, not least after guiding his side to the Europa League final last term.

Not only was it a lucky, 1-0 away win – but it was a match they dominated. Tom Lawrence his the bar, Ryan Kent had chances and Malik Tillman tested the goalkeeper. But it was Colak’s goal, after good work from Tillman, to win 1-0.

While it is a historic night for the Gers, there is still a decision to be made on Morelos. Left out of the Rangers side, his contract ends next summer. Do Rangers stick with him and perhaps, tie him down to a new deal before next summer?

Or, more likely, the Colombia international is sold in the next few days in order to bring in some cash for his services? Rangers will have to move fast – especially, as the Ibrox support will want a replacement for their hot-headed ace.
