Juventus want Sergio Reguilon but Nottingham Forest are now trying to close a deal for the Tottenham Hotspur left back in the coming hours.
Reguilon is finding out what many have experienced in the past – it can be hard to change Antonio Conte’s mind about you when he isn’t keen.
Conte decided to axe Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks from Tottenham’s pre-season trip to South Korea.
All four were told they had no future at Tottenham and both Lo Celso and Ndombele have left on loan, joining Villarreal and Napoli respectively.
Winks and Reguilon still need to find new clubs and it looks like there is plenty of interest in the Spaniard.
Juventus want Sergio Reguilon
Tuttomercatoweb now report that Juventus have explored a deal to sign Reguilon.
Juventus have a left back in Alex Sandro but the Brazilian hasn’t been at his best of late and more competition is needed.
Right-footed players like Danilo and Mattia De Sciglio can play on the left but aren’t naturals there whilst Luca Pellegrini has joined Eintracht Frankfurt.
That means a new, natural left back is on the wish list for Massimiliano Allegri and Reguilon could be their man.
TMW claim that Juventus have looked into signing Reguilon but they have a problem – that Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign him.
It’s stated that Forest are ahead of Juve and are aiming to close a deal for Reguilon in the coming hours.
Forest have signed two left wing backs this summer in Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo, but Richards has suffered an injury and Reguilon is now wanted as competition.
That would likely be a loan deal, so Juventus could make themselves more appealing to Tottenham by offering a cash deal.
Tottenham paid £27million to sign Reguilon from Real Madrid in 2020 but he hasn’t quite lived up to his billing.
Conte would now happily see Reguilon go, and a move to Conte’s former club Juve could be on the cards – unless Forest can get a deal done very soon.
