Wolves have reportedly opened talks to sign rumoured Manchester United target Sasa Kalajdzic with Arsenal in discussions to sign 22-year-old Molineux star Pedro Neto.
According to the Athletic, the Premier League side have made contact with VfB Stuttgart over a deal to sign Kalajdzic, who could leave the Bundesliga this summer for €25m (£21) as numerous English clubs eye the Austrian international, with Wolves reportedly facing competition from Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle United and Erik Ten Hag’s United.
With news breaking this Monday that Arsenal are in talks to sign Neto, it makes sense why Wolves have made the move to try and bring Kalajdzic to the West Midlands, with the attacker a player who could greatly improve Bruno Lage’s forward options should the Portuguese international leave in the coming days.
Arsenal will reportedly have to pay as much as £50m for Wolves if they’re to complete a deal for Neto before the closure of the transfer window next week, and with time running out, the Gunners could face an uphill battle to bring the 22-year-old winger to north London.
Whilst losing Neto would be a blow, though, Wolves seem to have an insurance option in place in the form of Kalajdzic, with the towering 6’7″ striker perfect for the Premier League and a player who could take Lage’s frontline in a new an interesting direction.
Indeed, whilst interest from the likes of Chelsea and United could make the battle to sign Kalajdzic a challenge, Wolves making the step to open talks with Stuttgart is a positive one for the Molineux side, and a deal could well be completed before the closure of the window regardless of if Arsenal bring Neto to the Emirates Stadium.
Wolves should look to sign Kalajdzic no matter what happens to Neto

Wolves have needed a striker for the majority of the summer, and in Kalajdzic, the 25-year-old is perfect for what Lage needs in the market, moreover, a deal could seemingly be done regardless of what happens to Neto, with the Austrian a player who could be signed no matter the situation.
With competition from United, Wolves will have to act fast to sign Kalajdzic, and as a new option to lead the line, the Molineux side could be on the brink of recruiting one of Europe’s most interesting forwards if they manage to wrap up a deal as quickly as possible.
