Arsenal want Pedro Neto and a huge summer move could see him fulfil a boyhood dream of playing for the Gunners.
The Gunners were chasing a left-footed winger earlier this summer by showing an interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha.
Raphinha instead moved on to Barcelona and rumours linking Arsenal with another winger have quietened down ever since.
Yet with Nicolas Pepe now potentially heading to Nice on loan, Arsenal are back in the hunt for a wide man to offer cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal want Pedro Neto
The man in question is Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, with Arsenal chasing a late-window move for the Portuguese ace.
The Times report that Arsenal have met with Neto’s main agent Jorge Mendes in an attempt to thrash out a deal.
Wolves are seeking a fee in the region of £50million to £60million though, which is more than Arsenal are currently willing to pay.
This would be a hugely exciting capture for Arsenal, having seen Neto shine in the Premier League for Wolves.
The 22-year-old is back fit and firing after a major injury and Arsenal could now allow him to live out a boyhood dream.
Speaking to TalkSPORT in 2021, Neto admitted that he grew up supporting Arsenal, loving their style of play under Arsene Wenger.
Mikel Arteta – who played under Wenger himself – has been bringing that style of play back to the Gunners.
That will surely appeal to Neto, who will have seen the free-flowing, attacking football Arsenal have offered up this season.
Edu – another key Arsenal decision-maker who played under Wenger – has to sell this dream to Neto, making it clear what an opportunity it is to finally pull on the famous red and white shirt.
Other clubs may want Neto but if Arsenal come calling, that boyhood dream may just leave the Wolves winger feeling that North London is the right destination for him.
