Crystal Palace could reportedly make a move to sign Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr after the winger’s transfer to Aston Villa collapsed, with Leeds United also interested in the Senegal international.
According to the Evening Standard, the Eagles remain keen on signing the 24-year-old forward following Sarr’s failed move to Villa, with the reported £25m transfer collapsing at the final hurdle in what is yet another big blow for Steven Gerrard’s side this summer.
The morning bombshell, though, presents Palace with a chance to sign Sarr, though, with Patrick Vieira’s side interested in the former Stade Rennais superstar alongside Leeds, who are also reportedly in the race to land the Championship attacker in the last ten days of the transfer window.
With Watford holding out for £30m for Sarr, Palace could launch a bid in the next few days to sign the Senegal star with Villa now out of the picture for the winger, with this update the perfect outcome for the south London side in their attempts to bolster their attacking options.
The Selhurst Park side’s only attacking addition this summer has come in the form of Derby County teenager Malcolm Ebiowei, and for Vieira, signing Sarr could be the final piece of the puzzle in what is an exciting front line for the Eagles, but first, they must beat rivals such as Leeds to the Watford ace’s signature.
Indeed, whilst Leeds’ interest in Sarr has seemingly cooled down in recent weeks, there’s still a chance that Jesse Marsch’s side could make a late move to sign the Championship star, and for Palace, they must now do all they can to win the race for the 24-year-old attacker.
Palace signing Sarr could take Eagles to their highest peak in years

Palace’s highest Premier League finish remains their tenth-place ranking in the 2014/15 season, yet with the Eagles firing on all cylinders already this campaign and Vieira pushing again to sign Sarr, this move could see the south London side embark on what could be their best year in some time.
Whilst it is still way too early to drum up a potential seventh-place finish, signing Sarr would give Palace an incredible boost in their chances of a top-half place, and with sides such as Leicester City and West Ham struggling early on, the Selhurst Park side have the potential to do something quite special this campaign.
