Newcastle United want James Garner with both Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur unwilling to meet Manchester United’s demands.

You can expect to read plenty of transfer rumours involving United over the coming days and weeks.

Erik ten Hag’s dreadful start to the season just shows how much work United have to do in the transfer market before the deadline.

That means new signings will be needed but some players will be moved out too, making room for the new additions.

Eric Bailly looks set to go and there could be exits for the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Garner.

Newcastle United want James Garner

United fans have been very split on the idea of Garner leaving Old Trafford but it looks like a permanent move is on the cards.

Football London noted last week that Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici has loved watching Garner, spotting him whilst scouting now-Spurs defender Djed Spence.

The Sun claim that Tottenham are in the mix for Garner but are unwilling to pay £14million for Garner, which is the fee United are demanding.

That’s the same stance as Leeds and Southampton, with both teams reluctant to pay up as things stand.

The report adds that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also keen on signing Garner, with the midfielder hardly short of interest.

Given that Newcastle are also being inked with Ajax star Edson Alvarez, it seems that the Magpies have made a new midfielder a priority.

Garner would tick homegrown boxes whilst he would be much cheaper than Alvarez, making him potentially appealing.

The 21-year-old excelled on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

That hasn’t pushed Garner any closer to United’s first team though and the Red Devils look set to cash in on the youngster.

Leeds and Tottenham appear to be hesitating due to that £14million asking price, and now need to be wary of Newcastle swooping in.
