Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been linked with Watford striker Joao Pedro, and fans of the Magpies would have been looking forward to watching him in action against Preston North End in the Championship this afternoon.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter this week that Newcastle have had two bids for Pedro turned down by Watford.
The two clubs are still in talks over a potential deal.
Newcastle’s second offer for the striker was an initial £22 million plus £3 million in add-ons, according to the well-known and well-respected journalist.
LancsLive have claimed that Watford are looking for £30 million in transfer fees for the 20-year-old Brazilian.

Newcastle target and Watford striker Joao Pedro has a calf injury
Watford took on Preston away from home in the Championship this afternoon.
Pedro was not in the squad.
According to LancsLive, the 20-year-old striker has a calf injury, which is why he did not play against Preston today.
It will be interesting to see if the injury is serious, and whether or not it affects Newcastle’s stance on the youngster.
Pedro has scored one goal in four Championship appearances for the Hornets so far this season.
The forward scored three goals and gave one assist in 15 Premier League starts last season, and scored nine goals and provided two assists in 31 Championship starts in 2020-21.
