Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in talks with forward Gabriel Martinelli over a new contract, according to PA journalist Mark Mann-Bryans.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Arsenal have recently opened talks with Brazil international forward Martinelli, described as “an unreal outlet” by former Gunners star Paul Merson in Sportskeeda this week.

The 21-year-old forward is under contract at Arsenal under the summer of 2024, with the North London club having an option to extend it by another year.

Good decision from the Gunners

In our view, it makes sense for Arsenal to start talks with Gabriel Martinelli over a new contract now.

Yes, of course, the Brazilian forward has a long-term contract at the Gunners, but we know that it takes time for talks over new deals to come to fruition.

It could take weeks, even months, for Arsenal and Martinelli to come to an agreement, so it is right that the Premier League club have opened talks now.

Martinelli is one of the best young forwards around and is the future of Arsenal.

The Brazilian is becoming a regular in Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s staring lineup now, and big things are expected of him.
