According to Pedro Sepulveda, Wolves have “made the call” as they aim to bring Crystal Palace target Goncalo Ramos to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, Bruno Lage has supposedly spoken to the 21-year-old about a move to Molineux, as he looks to fend off the south Londoners – Newcastle are also said to be keen on signing the £25m-rated Benfica No.88 this summer.

It was 90min who claimed that Crystal Palace are interested.

Sepulveda – a Portuguese football journalist – told Sky Sports: “Wolves boss Bruno Lage has already made the call to Ramos to know if he wants to join Wolves because they’ve already worked together and Lage has told Ramos he wants him at Wolves.”

Now, that is not good news for Crystal Palace and Newcastle.

Lage clearly has a connection with Ramos, which could give Wolves the advantage as they battle the Eagles and the Magpies for the Portugal Under-21 international.

Ramos never actually made a competitive appearance under the 46-year-old, who resigned in 2020 – the same year as the Portuguese wonderkid’s first-team breakthrough.

So far this season, the Benfica prodigy has scored four goals in four appearances, while also providing three assists.

Ramos is showing fine progress, and has already scored half of his tally from last season – in 46 appearances, he netted just eight goals.

Wolves could beat Crystal Palace to a gem

In our view, Lage’s connection with Ramos could help beat Patrick Vieira to a potential superstar.

The youngster has impressively scored 14 goals in his 18 appearances for the Portugal Under-21 side, and he is already making a huge impact in the first-team for Benfica.

Interestingly, Ramos is also proving to be a big-game player despite his lack of experience, having scored a hat-trick in the recent UEFA Champions League qualifying win over FC Midtjylland.

Wolves already have some quality prospects such as Pedro Neto in their ranks, so if Lage can help bring another to Molineux in Ramos, Wolves could have a very exciting 2022/23 campaign.
