James Bond rumour says Henry Cavill is off potential 007 lineup
As reported by Express.co.uk, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy might be out of the potential 007 list because of their age.
During an appearance on the ITV breakfast show Lorraine, entertainment reporter Ross King said that MGM Studios are looking for actors in their 30s to become the next Bond.
Ross King said: “The latest rumor – and in some ways part of this is very much true – which is, basically, the Bond producers are looking for a younger Bond. Someone probably in their 30s.
The reported continued: “At the end of the day they want someone who will be Bond for the next three movies. For the franchise, they want someone who will carry it through the same way Daniel Craig did it.”
Rumours crush fans
The rumours have left a number of Cavill fans crushed as they believe he is the perfect match for the role.
“Oh come now how is this not our next 007? asked one fan. “Let’s make this happen.”
Another one tweeted: “If the Bond franchise doesn’t mind losing fans, money or respect. The winner should be Henry Cavill, he has experience as a spy!”
Someone else noted: “Henry Cavill not being James Bond yet is beyond my comprehension.”
A fourth fan added: “If Henry Cavill becomes the next James Bond, that’d be absolutely amazing. He looks & fits the role. I was(and still am) 100% down for Henry & Idris Elba being the next 007.”
James Bond producer offers latest update
James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli recently revealed that it will take at least two years until the next Bond movie commences filming.
Speaking to Deadline in June 2022, the American producer offered the latest update on the casting and said: “Nobody’s in the running. We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond.
Broccoli added: “We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away.”
James Bond: No Time to Die made $708 million worldwide and was the fourth-biggest grossing film of 2020/2021.
