French newspaper L’Equipe claim that Nottingham Forest are one of four clubs to table an offer for Wolfsburg talent Aster Vranckx – a player that has also been linked with a move to Frank Lampard’s Everton this summer.
Vranckx, 19, has impressed during his early stages for Wolfsburg. A player that only joined Wolfsburg from Belgian side Mechelen only last summer. He played 28 times in all competitions during his first season at the Bundesliga club.
Belgium’s under-21 captain, Vranckx has three years left on his contract at Wolfsburg. A player that cost Wolfsburg £7million just over 12 months ago. He has already been linked with both Everton and Nottingham Forest.
Now, L’Equipe say Nottingham Forest have now made an offer to sign Vranckx. That is, despite already making a whole host of additions – including other central midfielders like Oriel Mangala, Lewis O’Brien and Cheikhou Kouyate.

However, Forest are not alone in their pursuit of Vranckx. Indeed, L’Equipe report that Lille, Fiorentina and Bologna have also made offers to sign the midfielder. It is also claimed that there is no agreement between any, and Wolfsburg.
Forest table Vranckx offer: Everton also linked
While Forest have been incredibly busy in the market, it is a necessary amount of activity. Of course, there will be concerns that they struggle to gel in time to keep the club in the division. But plenty have left.
What Vranckx must consider regarding Forest, is if he will start regularly. The connection between Mangala and O’Brien on Sunday against West Ham looked excellent, keeping the likes of Declan Rice quiet.
But the spending at Forest continues and for the newly-promoted side, Vranckx would certainly be an exciting addition. It shows Forest are not only trying to sign players to improve short-term, but add to a long-term project too.
