Chelsea are reportedly in talks to hand Armando Broja a new contract, with Everton and Newcastle United both interested in signing the Albanian international this summer.

According to the Athletic, discussions are currently taking place between the striker and Chelsea over extending his current contract, which is due to expire in 2025, with the report stating that Everton are interested in the 20-year-old talent, with Newcastle also being reported as a club chasing the Slough-born forward.

Broja has featured in both of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures so far this season with the attacker coming off the bench to make cameo appearances against Frank Lampard’s Everton and Tottenham, with the youngster looking more likely than ever to remain at Stamford Bridge for the campaign.

Reportedly valued at £30m, Broja exploded onto the scene last season with Southampton with the striker impressing for the Saints on loan from Chelsea, and interest in the Albanian has been high this summer as a result, though Thomas Tuchel now looks keen to keep the youngster a Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have no natural strikers in their squad aside from Broja, and signing the youngster to a new contract makes a lot of sense for the Blues with the club currently struggling to find a single replacement for the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, who have both left the two-time European champions.

Indeed, whilst Broja isn’t a starter yet for Chelsea, a lack of goals in the division could force Tuchel into giving the 20-year-old more minutes as the season progresses, and this latest contract update could ruin Everton and Newcastle’s plans of signing the attacker before the end of this month.

Broja started the summer as one of the most in-demand strikers in England, yet after a few weeks and a turbulent pre-season, the forward now looks more likely than ever to stay with Chelsea and pen a new contract, much to the dismay of Everton and Newcastle and their hopes to sign the youngster.

The attacker could have been perfect for either Premier League side, but given the events of Chelsea’s summer so far, it makes sense why the Blues have now pushed to keep Broja for the future given the club’s lack of attacking options as we approach the closure of the transfer window.
