Leeds United want Charlie Taylor and Burnley are seemingly willing to let him leave the club before the transfer deadline.

The Whites did splash out on a left back last summer by signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

However, Firpo struggled in his first Premier League season and is now out injured, leaving Leeds short in that area of the pitch.

Pascal Struijk has covered there so far this season but is far from a natural there, meaning a new signing is needed.

Philadelphia Union ace Kai Wagner has been heavily linked but a familiar face could end up back at Elland Road.

Leeds United want Charlie Taylor

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports via Patreon that Burnley defender Charlie Taylor has an admirer in Leeds.

It’s stated that Taylor could be offloaded before the window shuts alongside fellow defenders Matt Lowton and Kevin Long.

Taylor, 28, came up through the Leeds ranks and became a fan favourite as a homegrown player.

Taylor played 104 times for Leeds at first-team level and attracted major Premier League interest off the back of his impressive Championship form.

The left back ended up leaving for Burnley in 2017 and has now played more than 150 games for the Clarets.

Former Clarets boss Sean Dyche hailed Taylor as ‘very powerful’ whilst suggesting that he should be in contention for the England squad last year.

That hasn’t materialised for Taylor, who will surely still have some Premier League suitors after Burnley’s relegation from the top flight.

Leeds may well be one of them, potentially viewing Taylor as a proven and experienced Premier League left back who can not only cover for Firpo now, but also challenge him moving forward.

The way Taylor left the club in 2017 may leave some Leeds fans feeling that the defender has some making up to do, but he certainly makes sense as a potential left back addition this month.
