In only the second game of the Premier League, the entertainment is already at fever pitch. Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel clashed as Tottenham and Chelsea drew 2-2 – and Conte has had another dig at Tuchel on his Instagram story.

Harry Kane scored a 96th-minute equaliser in a dramatic encounter that saw Spurs come from behind twice. Kalidou Kouliably had opened the scoring, only for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to equalise. That is when the confrontation started.

Conte celebrated right in the front of Chelsea’s dugout, prompting an angry reaction from Tuchel. Then, Tuchel celebrated Reece James’ goal in a Jose Mourinho-esque run down the touchline. Kane made it 2-2 with a header.

At full-time, Tuchel held on to Conte’s had during a handshake. It sparked another argument and the two were sent off. Conte has taken to Instagram, joking he wished he had tripped Tuchel up during his celebration of Reece’s goal.

Posting a video of Tuchel’s celebration in slow motion to Chelsea’s second goal, Conte said on his story just before midnight: “Lucky I didn’t see you, making you trip over would have been well deserved.”

A spectacular rivalry, another example of a Battle at the Bridge. The rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea emanates from their London rivalry, but of course, the two sides are also battling for the same thing – third place.

Ultimately, Liverpool and Manchester City will finish in the top two places this season. It is a fight for the best of the rest and Tottenham will feel they have the chance to overtake Chelsea into third come the end of the season.

Conte’s reaction is brilliant on Instagram, but only one that will spark further rivalry between the two. Spurs and Chelsea do battle in North London on February 25, in the return fixture after the World Cup.
