Andy Townsend has criticised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on PremierLeague.com for his miss and overall performance against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the London derby today.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have played out a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League today.

Chelsea were the better team over the course of the 90 minutes, but they conceded a late goal.

It was Kane who scored.

Not many Tottenham players were at their best today, and one of them was England international striker Kane, although it was him who eventually rescued a point for Spurs from the London derby.

The £200,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker did not get too many chances, but there was one that he should have scored from in the second half.

Following a quick move, Kane found himself in a one-on-one situation against Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy

However, the striker dragged his shot wide.

It happened in the 62nd minute and it was 1-0 to Chelsea at the time.

Former Chelsea midfielder Townsend was not impressed.

Andy Townsend on Harry Kane for Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea

Townsend said about Kane’s miss on PremierLeague.com: “Wow, what a chance. Once Harry Kane gets there, the least you expect him to do is hit the target.

“He’s tried to show Mendy the eyes and drag it past him into the opposite corner, but that’s a really poor finish. Sums up his day so far.”

Townsend added about Kane in injury time before his goal: “Harry Kane has looked a little sluggish today.

“He’s such an important part of what Spurs are about, and his numbers will be right up there, of course they will, but he needs to be at his very best if Spurs are to come and win at places like this. He’s been off it today.”
