As you may have heard, Arsenal are attempting to bring Villarreal wonderkid Yeremy Pino to the Premier League.

The Spain international – who has a release clause worth €80m (£68m) – has already been the subject of a bid from the Gunners, and Mikel Arteta is supposedly a massive fan of the 19-year-old.

In fact, it has even been said that he has been telling Arsenal to sign Pino for months.

Now, Unai Emery – who manages the teenager at Villarreal – has made an interesting statement.

What’s the story?

Well, we were expecting the 50-year-old to issues a hands-off warning when addressing the topic in the media.

However, Emery surprisingly said that Pino is free to leave the Yellow Submarine, if an offer is made.

The Spaniard states that he has a “responsibility” at Villarreal to sell if a respectable bid arrives, which suggests to us that the Champions League semi-finalists need to raise some cash.

Now, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal react to their old manager’s comments, as he has basically left the door open for clubs to make offers.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in signing Pino, so Arteta must be wary of that.

Arsenal could try to get Yeremy Pino discount

In our view, Arteta and Edu should offer Villarreal the chance to have Pino back on loan for the 2022/23 campaign, if they agree to let him join the Gunners for a sensible fee.

The Spaniard is a huge talent, and at this stage of his career, he simply has to be playing first-team football on a regular basis.

Pino is getting that at Villarreal, but at Arsenal – where he would compete with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Nicolas Pepe, Emile Smith Rowe and others – his development could be harmed.

The teenager can play in the centre of attack, or on the left, but he primarily lines up on the right flank.

That is exclusively Saka’s position in north London, so we feel Arteta has enough options to allow Villarreal to have Pino back on a season-long loan.

If it helps the Gunners beat Liverpool to his signature, it is certainly worth doing.
