French newspaper L’Equipe claim Everton are looking to complete a deal for Rennes striker Serhou Guirassy before the end of this week – after Rennes announced their own striker signing, in the form of young ace Arnaud Kalimuendo.
Guirassy, 26, has spent the last two seasons with Rennes after an excellent spell with Amiens. The giant striker has scored 25 goals in 81 games for Rennes, but his hold-up play has been invaluable to Rennes’ attacking midfielders.
Everton want a striker that is both athletic, and good in the air – to replace Dom Calvert-Lewin. The England striker is currently out injured for a number of weeks. There are doubts that Salomon Rondon has the quality to start.
Reports this week state that Rennes bringing in Kalimuendo has allowed Everton a free run at Guirassy. The striker himself is said to be keen on a £15million move. Now, Everton hope to have him done by the end of the week.

Everton looking to complete Guirassy deal this week: £15m fee on table
It is a move that makes sense. Everton need a striker, Guirassy is a striker that has even impressed in the Champions League with Rennes. Frank Lampard also knows him well, scoring against Chelsea for Rennes during the 20-21 term.
Given he is only 26, Guirassy is actually somewhat cheap for a striker. The issue for Lampard will be that when Calvert-Lewin returns, will he able to give Guirassy ample game time to keep him happy? Rondon will question his future.
But with the way they played against Chelsea on Saturday with no striker, Everton need Guirassy. It is a good deal for all parties involved. Whether a deal is over the line by the close of play on Sunday remains to be seen. But it is likely.
