Speaking on the 90Min YouTube channel, Jamie Redknapp has been speaking about Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray.
The young star is making his mark at Leeds at the tender age of 16, and Redknapp thinks that he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.
The midfielder starred in pre-season, and Redknapp is utterly convinced by his talents, stating that he may well be a future England star.
What’s been said?
Redknapp spoke about Gray’s ability.
“I don’t know if he’s ready yet, but he’s the best young midfield player I’ve seen in years at Leeds, Archie Gray. He might not be there yet, he’ll be 17 this year I think, but Archie Gray is going to be a future England star,” Redknapp said.
Runs in the family
Gray certainly has the pedigree to make it to the very top of this sport.
Indeed, Gray comes from one of the greatest footballing families the UK has ever seen, and if he’s half as good as his uncle Eddie was, he’ll be a star.
Interestingly, Archie has opted to represent England rather than follow in his family’s footsteps by playing for Scotland, and according to Redknapp, he could get senior caps in the future.
Of course, it’s incredibly easy to get carried away when a young player with this surname is coming through at Leeds, but the fact that he’s making such an impact at this age is very promising.
Too much hype around a young player can be a bad thing, but it’s hard to say that Gray is looking like anything but the real deal at this point.
