As you may know, Omari Hutchinson left Arsenal to join Chelsea on a free transfer in the middle of July.

The 18-year-old gem failed to agree a new contract with the Gunners, after seeing his pathway into the first-team blocked by the £3m signing of Marquinhos from São Paulo.

Now, Hutchinson – who some at Arsenal believe has more potential than Bukayo Saka – has made his debut for Chelsea.

What’s the story?

Well, the teenager played 83 minutes for the Blues in their 7-1 win over Wolves in the Premier League 2 clash on Monday.

Hutchinson registered an assist as Chelsea’s Under-23 side mauled the Wolves youngsters, and he could’ve racked up even more goal involvements on a day where he was involved in plenty going forward.

On the basis of that performance, Arsenal should’ve done more to get him signed to a new contract.

Mikel Arteta was supposedly planning to use Hutchinson in the Europa League this season, although he never actually gave the attacker his first-team debut during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Perhaps that is part of the reason why Hutchinson decided to leave.

The teenager scored eight goals in 22 appearances last season, while also providing seven assists, so he was clearly finding Under-23 football easy, and presumably felt he was ready for a step up.

Hutchinson could be another Gnabry for Arsenal

In our view, Arsenal could live to regret losing Hutchinson in the same way they surely regret letting Serge Gnabry leave.

The German departed north London in 2016 to join Werder Bremen, before Bayern Munich quickly snapped him up and turned him into one of the best forwards in Europe.

Arsenal surely regret the way they handled the Hale End graduate’s time in England, and if Hutchinson’s debut for Chelsea’s Under-23 side is anything to go by, lightning may be about to strike twice for the Gunners.
