Chris Sutton questions how Antonio Conte will fit Richarlison into the Tottenham Hotspur line-up after signing the Brazil striker from Everton when he already had Dejan Kulusevski.

Chris Sutton feels it’s ‘interesting’ to see where Tottenham signing Richarlison fits

Antonio Conte has a welcome headache when picking his forward options after Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison from Everton. That’s according to Chris Sutton, who suggests in a column for BBC Sport that it will be ‘interesting’ to see where the attacker will now fit in.

Richarlison has switched Merseyside for north London after joining Spurs in an initial £50m deal, up to £60m after add-ons. The 25-year-old has also signed a five-year contract in the capital, following four seasons at Goodison Park after arriving in a £35m, up to £50m, deal.

Conte now has a wealth of offensive weapons at his disposal as he strives to push on after a fourth-place Premier League finish. Although Richarlison will miss Tottenham’s curtain-raiser against Southampton as he serves a one-match ban for throwing a flare last season.

The FA suspended Richarlison for his actions following a match-winning goal for Everton at home to Chelsea on May 1. He struck the only goal in a 1-0 contest, on route to ending the campaign with 10 efforts from 30 games, along with five assists, as the Toffees’ top-scorer.

Richarlison now joins an offensive arsenal consisting of last term’s Premier League Golden Boot winner, Son Heung-Min, plus Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski. Son and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah shared top-honours with 23 strikes, while Kane hit 17 and Kulusevski five.

Antonio Conte has an embarrassment of attacking riches at Spurs

Sutton feels Tottenham signing Richarlison has given Conte an embarrassment of attacking riches with Son, Kane and Kulusevski. The Italian also still has Lucas Moura in north London as report Conte told the Brazilian that he is not leaving Spurs this summer.

“There is a lot of excitement around Tottenham,” Sutton wrote. “But then it is the same at the start of every season. I know Richarlison is suspended for this game, but it is going to be interesting to see how he fits into their team after joining from Everton.

“Dejan Kulusevski did really well after arriving in January, and we know how good Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane are. So, I don’t know how Antonio Conte will fit them all into his team. Still, it’s not a bad problem to have.”

Tottenham signed Kulusevski on an 18-month loan from Juventus for £8.5m during January with an option to buy the Sweden forward next summer for £29m. The 22-year-old would go on to score five and create eight goals over 18 Premier League games in a Spurs jersey.
