PSG are reportedly ready to hijack Barcelona’s plan to sign Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva, with sporting director Luis Campos having a relationship with the Portuguese star based on their time together at AS Monaco.
According to Foot Mercato, the French giants are pushing to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, who could leave City this summer following reports that Barcelona are eager to bring the Premier Leaguer superstar to Catalonia in a deal worth £80m.
With Silva one of City’s best players last season, it would take a momentous effort for either PSG or Barcelona to sign the midfield maestro, who also earns a reported £150,000-a-week, yet as per the report, Campos is confident he can bring his former Monaco star to the French capital.
Silva was signed to Monaco by Campos and was part of the iconic side that made it to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals as well as won the Ligue 1 title, with the likes of Fabinho, Radamael Falcao and Kylian Mbappe also members of the squad back in 2017.
Indeed, with two years remaining on his current contract, City could look to cash in on Silva with his value the highest it likely will ever be, but with just under a month of the transfer window left to go, finding a replacement will be difficult for Pep Guardiola in the market.
However, selling to PSG could be a more appealing option for City than Barcelona based on the La Liga giants’ terrible financial situation, whereas the Qatari-backed French giants will be a more reliable buyer given their virtually unlimited source of wealth when it comes to transfers.
Silva should choose to sign for PSG despite interest from Barcelona

Silva has been linked with a move to Barcelona for the best part of a year, and although the European giants could be viewed as the midfielder’s dream club, there’s no denying that the 27-year-old will be making a big decision moving to an institution that poorly run, hence why PSG could make more sense as a next move for the City star.
After all, with Campos now overseeing the transfers in Christophe Galtier’s first year in charge of PSG, the duo are going for smart signings rather than superstar names, and whilst Silva does fall into that latter category, there’s no denying that the City maestro is perfect for what the Parisians need this summer.
