Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Chelsea has been mooted recently, despite only leaving Arsenal in 2022.
Aubameyang quit the Gunners in January to join Barcelona and he swiftly reminded Europe what a lethal goalscorer he is with a series of important strikes, including a match-winning performance away to Real Madrid in the Clasico.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Arsenal hitman is on Chelsea’s radar as the Blues look for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku following his struggles last season in West London.
However, Mundo Deportivo has reported that the Gabon international has absolutely ‘no intention’ of joining the Stamford Bridge outfit.
It isn’t due to his Arsenal connection but his comfort level at Camp Nou, with the report adding that Aubameyang waited four years to play for the Catalan giants and isn’t ready to leave.
Aubameyang, who earns around £292,000 per week in La Liga this season [Eldesmarque], is somebody who Chelsea need, with his experience in the Premier League a major selling point.
However, it does look as if Thomas Tuchel and co will have to look elsewhere if they’re going to replace the Belgian marksman, going by the report from Mundo Deportivo.
He has 68 goals in 128 Premier League outings for Arsenal, which doesn’t really tell the full story of his early success at the Emirates Stadium when you consider that he only netted 14 times in this competition since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
