Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Milan Skriniar after a move to PSG collapsed for the Inter defender.
The centre-half has been strongly linked with a move away from San Siro this summer, and according to Jacobs the race for the defender is once again opening up.
Jacobs is led to believe that Tottenham are loosely in the race for Skriniar, and he states that the good news for Spurs is that Inter may be forced into selling a player of this ilk this summer.
What’s been said?
Jacobs shared what he knows about Skriniar.
“They have kept an eye on Bastoni, Inter are highly unlikely to let him leave, but Skriniar is another option and Tottenham are loosely in the race. The good news for Spurs and Chelsea with Skriniar is that Inter will eventually have to sell somebody big and PSG have for now cooled their interest, so that’s one to watch,” Jacobs said.

Can they afford it?
Tottenham may be keen on Skriniar, but after spending over £100m this summer, we have to wonder whether or not they can afford this deal.
Skriniar would be a great fit into this backline. He’s an incredibly sturdy defender with bags of experience – plus he’s worked under Antonio Conte in the past, but because of his quality, he won’t come cheaply.
Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay £42m for the defender, and, in all honesty, Skriniar may not be worth that to Tottenham right now.
He doesn’t plug the problem area in the defence – the left-sided centre-back spot, and while he’d be an upgrade on Eric Dier, it would be hard to justify spending over £40m on that spot right now.
Keep an eye on this one, but don’t be shocked if Spurs don’t get involved here.
