According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham want AC Milan to buy Pape Matar Sarr on a permanent basis.
What’s the story?
Well, this is an odd story coming from Italy.
Gazzetta dello Sport believe AC Milan have asked about taking Sarr on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
However, while Tottenham are happy to let him join on loan, they would prefer to include an obligation for the Italian giants to buy the 19-year-old in 2023.
In our view, that makes no sense whatsoever.
Spurs only signed the Senegal international in August 2021 for a sum of £14.6m, and he is yet to play a competitive game for the north Londoners having rejoined FC Metz on a season-long loan last term.
Of course, Sarr was not signed with the approval of Antonio Conte, but nevertheless, it would be hugely surprising if Daniel Levy allowed the teenager to leave on a permanent basis, after investing a significant sum of money into his potential.

A loan to a club of AC Milan’s size would surely do wonders for the midfielder’s development.
However, forcing them into an obligation to buy Sarr for good makes no sense, and is surely nonsense.
Tottenham should try to send Pape Matar Sarr to AC Milan
As aforesaid, a loan to the San Siro would be great for Sarr, and Tottenham have a way of making it happen.
AC Milan are currently in advanced talks to sign Japhet Tanganga from Spurs, and during negotiations with the Italian champions, Fabio Paratici could offer a slight discount if they are willing to take Sarr and aid his development.

However, no option or obligation to buy him on a permanent basis should be included.
After all, it has been said that recruitment teams at other clubs praised Tottenham for the signing of Sarr, and the wonderkid is expected to have a great career.
Therefore, it would be madness if Tottenham cashed in before giving him a proper chance in N17.
